Twisted Testicle and Anal Tear?!

This has GOT to be the Central! It seems that the NL Central will be the anus of the league anyway, so we might as well have the injuries to go with it.

I'm watching the latest in the series of farces that are Cubs spring training games. It seems like the Cubs have no problem GETTING leads. They just have issues HOLDING them. Not a good foreshadow of things to come in Wrigleyville. Here's hoping that they can get it figured out in the next two weeks.

I will have to disagree a little bit with Wood not being a good closer. He may be great. He can go out there and throw like there's nothing to lose, he doesn't have the pressure that's ordinarily associated with the role since he had so much of it as a "phenom", and he certainly has the mental makeup to be the guy. It may be a heart attack a day, but that's not much different than closers all the way back to the Mitch Williams days. There are only so many Johnathan Papelbon and Mariano Riveras out there.

I am more interested in what's going to happen with the starters. All three guys are pitching well including Dempster's 5.1IP, 0ER today. In Marquis can pitch like he did yesterday, how can you justify sending any of these guys to the minors?

Zambrano is pitching lights out. He had a no hitter into the sixth, and has an ERA under 1 for the spring. Certainly that means he will be lit up yet again on Opening Day...

"If we had to be concerned about everything to be concerned about, we'd never sleep around here," Lou Pinella said today. If THAT doesn't sound like my lovable Cubs, I don't know what does.

Til next time...

First things first. It is SPRING Training. That's right, 4 guys actually on the roster play a game with 30 minor leaguers. So when they can't hold a lead in the 7th.....it's because the guy who has been in the Minors for 10 years gets another shot or they are trying out new pitches.......this is the place for that. Many teams have had Awful Springs to win Titles.

Secondly....my guess is that they are Really ripe for a trade. You have 7 Starting Pitchers trying for starting spots. We need 5. The Minors isn't an option as they would cost too much and a simple waste. I smell a Brian Roberts trade.....but that is old news. Plus the Cubs have a great relationship with the O's. And with my Astro Fans Anal issues.....who knows.

And Last but not least......Win lose or crumble in the 9th.....I have always been and will always be a Cub fan...even though I live in a place that nicknames thier stadium "The Juice Box" and has fans that rely on the "Weather" to show for games.

p.s. To my Bud in Chi-Town and almost home.......We still having a small wager on stats?

Yeah, I don't think Marquis or Dempster have contracts which will allow them to be sent to the minors.

I am of the mind they don't like Dempster (starter, closer or otherwise) for whatever reason and he is out there auditioning for his next team.

Guess we will have to agree to disagree on the Wood issue. Although, he's already hurt. Guess we will probably never really get to know. I hate it because I really like Kerry, but the lingering injuries over the last 4 seasons have left too much of a lasting impression on me. Marmol will probably slide into the spot, especially since he is having such a great sprint. I agree with Don about the Dumpster. He will probably be pitching for Pesos before we know it. The sad thing is that the Peso will probably be worth more than the dollar.
